PE and Sports Premium Funding 2016-2017

The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum   in order to improve the provision of Physical Education and Sport in primary schools. This funding is being jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media & Sport and goes directly to primary schools to be spent on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their pupils.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision for PE and Sport in school. Each school receives £8,000, plus £5.00 per pupil on roll. We will be held accountable to ensure that the additional funding supports pupil progress and participation in PE and school sport. Just like the spending of our pupil premium funding, we are required to publish on-line information about how we have used this additional funding. This makes sure that parents/carers, pupils and governors are made fully aware of the PE and Sporting provisions at Freckleton Church of England Primary School.

For this academic year, we receive £8681 of PE and Sport Funding.

At Freckleton, we have decided to develop our children through sport by using the money to fund:

Independent Gymnastic Specialist (£1980) which includes:

  • Gymnastics instructor to work alongside our teachers in Years 1, 2 and 3.
  • Tailored gymnastics programme for each Year group.
  • Improve the basics of the seven fundamental movements to have a positive impact on later life.

  • Specialists visits to Preston North End FC for taster days and ground tours.
  •  Workshops and anti-racism events.
