But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8
At Freckleton Church of England Primary School, we promote an enjoyment and appreciation of visual arts. We pride ourselves on the excellence of our provision and take pride in ensuring that our children experience a breadth of learning including educational visits, outdoor learning and a wide variety of resources including computing.
Art and Design is taught by teachers or Higher Level Teaching Assistants and is well resourced across school. We ensure that the children are exposed to a wide range of artistic methods including painting, digital media, printing, textiles, 3D, collage and drawing. Lessons are interactive and engaging and children are encouraged to share and express their individual creativity.
We believe that our children should be given the opportunity to experience different roles and functions of art so they can appreciate and explore the impact that it has on contemporary life, different periods in history and different cultures. Our intent is that our children are able to develop their personal creativity, independence, self-reflection and natural sense of wonder and curiosity; all of which are vital skills that will enable them to meet the ‘challenges of life with confidence and enthusiasm’.
