EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE Statement of Intent

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9

We are very proud of our Early Years provision at Freckleton Church of England Primary School. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and provide children with a safe and nurturing environment which enables them to learn and develop through play.  Some children begin their learning journey in Freckles, our on-site preschool which offers a range of practical, hands on experiences both indoors and outside and ensures children have the key skills to facilitate a smooth transition to starting school.

Children at Freckleton Church of England Primary School & Freckles Preschool settle quickly and are happy, they develop social skills, independence and resilience.  Children enjoy learning through play, they learn new skills and have plenty of opportunities to practice skills they have already acquired.  Play is important for children’s all-round physical, emotional, intellectual and social development.

Our indoor and outdoor learning environments support children to share, take turns, play cooperatively, and develop skills and knowledge that provide strong foundations for their future learning.  The learning environments are adapted regularly, to ensure they are engaging and challenging to the meet the needs of all children.

Parents are valued as partners in their child’s achievements.  We strive to create and maintain partnership with parents and carers as we recognise that together, we can have a significant impact on a child’s learning.  We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that children “can learn and grow as part of God’s family”.  We welcome and actively encourage parents and carers to participate confidently in their child’s education and care.
