Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament!
Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Psalm 150
Freckleton Church of England Primary School has a strong musical heritage and music enjoys a high profile in our curriculum. We also pride ourselves on the quality of our provision. Music is taught by teachers and on occasion by the Higher Level Teaching Assistant using Lancashire County Council’s 'Charanga' music scheme and regular music lessons deliver the requirements of the EYFS 2022 and National Curriculum 2014.
The Music Policy, Music Curriculum Overview and Music Knowledge & Skills Progression documents are below.
Music is well resourced, with a range of instruments available and in Year 5 every child learns a brass instrument. Singing in school is also very well developed with all junior children participating in the Let's Go Sing!' programme. As well as the termly Year 5 Brass Ensemble Concert, the school’s choir, concert band and music groups perform regularly at school and community events such as the Freckleton Club Day Celebrations, Village Christmas Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, Church and PTFA Events and Christmas performances at the local retirement homes.
Private music lessons and instrument hire are offered in guitar, keyboard, clarinet and brass instruments via Lancashire Music Services 'PDP' service. Children may join the ensembles at the Kirkham Music Hub. We are also a member of the Lancashire Music Hub, which provides training and specialist advice through the Lancashire Music Service.
We believe music education is a path to life-long learning and knowledge of self and culture. It supports healthy social development and the quality of a young person’s life, and it prepares young people for success in the 21st century workplace as well as allowing children the chance to
‘live life in all its fullness’.
