Physical Education Subject Statement of Intent
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Hebrews 12: 1-2
Our School Vision
‘Let knowledge be grounded in faith’
Freckleton Church of England Primary is a welcoming and caring Christian school, where everyone can learn and grow as part of God’s family. Inspiring all to respect themselves and others, living life in its fullness; dedicated to delivering engaging learning in collaboration with our church, our families and the community.
Freckleton Church of England Primary School recognises the value of Physical Education (P.E). We fully adhere to the aims of the national curriculum for physical education to ensure that all children:
Pupils at our school participate in weekly high quality PE and sporting activities. Our PE programme incorporates a variety of sports to ensure all children develop the confidence, tolerance and the appreciation of their own and others’ strengths and weaknesses. We provide opportunities for all children to engage in extra-curricular activities before, during and after school, in addition to competitive sporting events. This is an inclusive approach which endeavours to encourage not only physical development but also well-being.
It is our intent at Freckleton Church of England Primary School to teach children life skills that will positively impact on their future. We aim to deliver high-quality teaching and learning opportunities that inspire all children to succeed in physical activities. We want to teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, understanding fairness and equality of play to embed life-long values. We want all pupils to feel they belong as part of a team, believe in their healthy potential and become as physically, socially and emotionally well as they can be. We do this by developing the attitudes, skills and knowledge required and provide memorable experiences throughout a child’s journey within Physical Education.
